Volunteering

At Praxis Care, volunteers play a key part supporting and enhancing the existing work of Praxis Care staff. Volunteering is an important part of the ongoing work of the organisation and makes a unique and valued contribution.

It is a great way to increase or develop skills, meet new people, use your existing skills to help others, make a difference in your local community and improve your own well-being.

We match the skills and abilities of all potential volunteers to appropriate opportunities. Once in a role, you will be supported and managed and we’ll ensure your contribution is recognised and valued.

How can you get involved?

If you would like to volunteer, there are plenty of opportunities to get involved in across many different aspects of our work. Roles are available across Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland, the Isle of Man and England.

Befriending (Adults)

In this role you will provide one to one support and companionship to someone who is feeling isolated or lonely as a result of their mental ill-health. (Role available in Northern Ireland and Isle of Man.)

Befriending (Young People)

Befriend a young person and help them lead a socially inclusive life. The role involves participating in a range of social activities with the young person depending on their interests, e.g., crazy golf, going to the cinema, out for coffee, etc. (Role available in Northern Ireland only.)

Marketing/Communications Assistance

This could be the role for you if you’ve an interest in social media, website design, photography, creating publicity materials, writing press releases, etc. This is a virtual role that can be done from anywhere.

Office Support

Use your existing skills or develop some new ones by helping with administration tasks in one of our services.

Social Activities Coordination

Have you got a skill or talent that could make a difference to people supported at a local service? Painting, knitting, singing, arts & crafts etc. — there are so many ways to get involved.

Volunteer Gardening

Many of our services have extensive gardens, some manage allotments and there’s even garden nurseries in County Down & Cork. Why not volunteer to do some gardening once or twice a month?

Dementia Carer Support

Help run Carer Support Groups with our Dementia Carer Co-ordinator. (Role available in Northern Ireland only.)

Why Volunteer for Praxis Care?
