Our Praxis Care Volunteer Celebration honoured our many helpful volunteers. The annual event was in Belfast’s Crumlin Road Gaol.
Manager Leanne McIlvenny honoured Denise Lipscomb, a volunteer who passed away, in a touching tribute.
Many of our one-hundred regular volunteers attended from across Northern Ireland. Those present were a mix of befrienders and those who help at our learning disability, dementia and mental health services, which include gardening, social activities, and various events.
Greer Wilson, Praxis Care’s Director of Care for Northern Ireland, said volunteer efforts bolster Praxis Care work. Special mention went to Danske Bank staff.
Danske Bank provided 153 volunteers during their Corporate Team Days in 2023. Kerry Smith, Danske Bank’s External Communications Officer, was there to represent them.
“We are hugely grateful for these volunteers who help achieve our ambition to create as independent a lifestyle as possible for the people we support,” said Mr Wilson.
Ian Cardwell, Volunteer Manager for our charity, said volunteers are often the unsung heroes of social care. Also, he said that events like Volunteer Celebrations are important for acknowledging their work and contributions.
“This was a great event. It was lovely to see a mix of volunteers in attendance along with many of the ‘friends’ supported in a befriending relationship. The event has grown so much there’ll be a need for a larger venue in 2024!” declared Mr. Cardwell.
The event was attended by a mix of volunteers and supporters.
