Praxis Care has been supporting individuals affected by mental ill health for over 30 years. We support people who experience a variety of challenges ranging from anxiety and depression to schizophrenia, bi-polar disorder and personality disorders.
We believe that anyone living with mental ill health should be supported in their recovery journey, in a community setting that works for them, to live the life they choose. We provide a range of accommodation and support services, including; supported living, domiciliary care, day activity and befriending services.
The befriending services are particularly effective for people who have all the practical skill for community living, but experience loneliness and isolation helping to address these issues.

What a wonderful end to Befriending Week! 🌟
On Wednesday, we attended Volunteer Now's befriending network event at Belfast City Hall, celebrating the inspiring befriending work of organisations and volunteers across Northern Ireland.
Janet Simm, founder of our Befriending Service for Young People, introduced a touching video about our volunteer Avril and her 11-year friendship with Bianca. Avril then shared her journey, describing how deeply rewarding it is when a young person feels happy, comfortable, and safe in her company.
We also heard stories from several organisations, who, like us, are dedicated to supporting people from diverse backgrounds.
We’re excited to see the impact you all continue to make in 2024 and beyond. Thank you to all those making a difference in their community! 💖

This Befriending Week, we’re excited to highlight some incredible individuals who have been part of the befriending service at Praxis Care! 🌟
Hear from Marian, who reflects on her friendship with Anne. They’ve been friends for 8 years now and despite their differing personalities, their bond has grown stronger, and they now find comfort in each other's company.

Happy International Volunteer Managers Day! 🌍✨
Today, we’re celebrating our fantastic Volunteer Manager, Ian Cardwell! 🙌
This year’s theme, “What’s our Future Normal?” invites us to reflect on the evolving role of volunteer management— from shifting volunteer expectations to the growing impact of AI.
We couldn’t be more grateful to Ian for all he does to guide, inspire and grow our volunteer team. Here’s to Ian and all volunteer managers making the world a better place! 💜👏
